SEADRIF participated in the webinar “Bridging Systems: The Nexus of Food, Agriculture, Land and Biodiversity” on 18 August 2025, co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Union for Conservation of Nature ( IUCN), and the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) as part of the APAN Pre-Forum series.
SEADRIF’s Implementation and Program Development Specialist, Shannen Nicole Chua, joined a panel titled “Can biodiversity and nature conservation and food production go hand in hand?” alongside experts from government, civil society organizations, and industry. Together, they explored how governance, finance, and policy innovations can align these systems for transformational adaptation, sharing practical examples where biodiversity conservation and food security reinforce each other.
The webinar convened nearly 100 participants spanning government agencies, academia, and development partners, creating a dynamic exchange of perspectives and bringing diverse expertise to the table to chart systemic, integrated pathways for resilience.
Transformational adaptation requires more than incremental change — it means reshaping the fundamental attributes of how food, land, water, and biodiversity systems are governed and sustained. Climate impacts such as erratic rainfall, temperature rise, and biodiversity loss threaten food and water security, making integrated approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration indispensable.
SEADRIF values the opportunity to contribute and exchange knowledge with partners working to strengthen resilience and climate risk management across Southeast Asia.
