Ms. Hien Anh Than, Board Director of SEADRIF Insurance Company, contributed to the “Building Trust through Rapid Post-Earthquake Assessments” Conference on Tuesday 8 April 2025 in Bangkok. Co-hosted by The World Bank Thailand and IFC - International Finance Corporation in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, the event addressed the timely and critical topic of rapid, trusted post-earthquake assessments. It brought together government officials, engineers, disaster risk experts, and international thought leaders to discuss how such assessments can save lives and restore confidence in affected communities.

During the insightful roundtable moderated by Jan Mumenthaler, Regional Insurance Lead, IFC, Ms. Than joined fellow panelists to discuss important topics in financial and physical resilience to extreme events. The role of disaster risk insurance in enhancing resilience is critical. Ms. Than introduced the work of SEADRIF as a development insurer for the ASEAN region, to strengthen financial resilience against disaster risk. She highlighted the dual roles of government: to regulate safety through building codes and oversight, and to lead by example by insuring critical public assets. The roundtable offered an opportunity for the experts to look ahead and envision a trust-based system for a resilient future.
