Global Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP) is the Asia’s Leading Centre of Excellence in Insurance and Risk Management. The inaugural Asia Risk Roundtable was a hybrid event that took place in Singapore. It brought together senior executives from public and private sectors, regulators, development agencies, and academia, to discuss and strengthen collaboration in imperative areas including
- Deepening capabilities to improve risk identification and risk awareness;
- Unlocking finance for risk reduction; and
- Improving innovation in products and systems within an increasingly risky global landscape.
Under the leadership of Mr. Yoshihiro Kawai, Chair of SEADRIF Insurance Company, and Chair of GAIP, SEADRIF Insurance Company’s Executives contributed to multiple discussions throughout the event. Increasing risks in natural disasters and extreme weather events widen the protection gap in the ASEAN region. SEADRIF and GAIP shared the same goal of strengthening the financial resilience of people, especially for the poor and vulnerable, in the ASEAN region.
As the regional sovereign catastrophe risk pool, SEADRIF works closely with public officials on one side and industry on the other. SEADRIF executives shared unique insights in using insurance principles and tools in new ways to support both public goods and create new markets. Asia Risk Roundtable facilitated multi-faceted dialogue and substantive engagement among delegates. The event concluded with an inspiring mandate that with a concerted effort by stakeholders bringing their expertise and perspectives to the table, Asia can pave the way toward a future that is not only economically prosperous but also resilient and sustainable.
