The Insurance Development Forum (IDF) was launched in 2015 during the United Nations COP21 Paris Climate Summit as a public-private partnership bringing together the insurance industry, multilateral organizations, non-governmental organizations and public sector institutions in support of the growth and development of insurance and its related risk management capabilities to help achieve the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Global 2030 Agenda.

The IDF Summit is the global flagship event of the climate and disaster risk finance and insurance community. The 2023 Summit focuses on the theme “Ambition, Action & Impact“. Concerted ambition as we build towards the decade of delivery for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). An ambition which must be matched by Action and Impact focused on those who need it most and by those with the ability to deliver.

Mr Yoshihiro Kawai, Chairman of the SEADRIF Insurance Company, also the Chair of OECD Insurance and Private Pension Committee and Global Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP), joined the panel with Mr Michel Lies, Chair of IDP Steering Committee, Mr Alexander Moczarski, Chair of International Marsh & McLennan Companies, moderated by Ms Ruth Lux, Head of Public Sector, Guy Carpenter, to discuss the drivers of underinsurance in emerging markets with a focus on Public Policy and Regulation. SDI representative Mr Dylan Bryant attended the event, and took the opportunity to expand network with potential partners and donors, to drive our agenda in supporting ASEAN member countries to build financial resilience against climate shocks and disasters.
