SEADRIF is pleased to welcome Ms. Mei Fern Johnson as a member of the SEADRIF Insurance Company Board of Directors. Ms. Johnson is an internationally recognised lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience advising private and public sector clients on complex corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, overseas investments in New Zealand, and issues at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

A partner at leading New Zealand law firm Russell McVeagh and a consultant to the World Bank Group on disaster risk financing projects, Ms. Johnson’s legal practice spans the infrastructure, technology, energy, and transport sectors. She brings a wealth of expertise that will meaningfully strengthen SEADRIF’s strategic oversight and organisational development.

She holds the GAICD qualification from the Australian Institute of Directors and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

Originally from Malaysia and having built a distinguished career across New Zealand’s legal and governance sectors, Ms. Johnson brings a valuable blend of regional insight and international depth to the Board.

“I look forward to working with SEADRIF on its Board to champion its critical role in disaster risk financing across ASEAN+3. Pre-arranged funding solutions are essential for enabling swift recovery, strengthening preparedness and reducing hardship.

I hope to play my part in advancing resilience strategies that better protect our communities across the region,” Ms. Johnson said.

We warmly welcome Ms. Johnson and look forward to her contributions in enhancing SEADRIF’s governance and strategic direction as we further develop disaster risk financing solutions for the region.
