“Global Knowledge Exchange on Disaster Risk Finance for Resilience Infrastructure” Workshop at Understanding Risk Global Forum 2024

On Monday 17 June, the World Bank's Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance Program, in partnership with SEADRIF, ASEAN+3 DRFI, Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance Working Group, hosted a workshop on Global Knowledge Exchange on Disaster Risk Finance for Resilient Infrastructure.

The half-day global knowledge exchange focused on four main themes:

• Strategies and frameworks for Disaster Risk Financing (DRF) for Resilience Infrastructures (RI)- Policy, legal, and institutional readiness
• DRF for RI Instruments – Government-supported programs
• DRF for RI Instruments – Public private partnership and market-based instruments
• Data analytics and technology for DRF for RI

The governments of the Philippines and Indonesia shared insights, learnings, and future directions with the attendees, drawing tremendous interest from the participants. Benedikt Signer, Board Advisor of the SEADRIF Insurance Company, representing SEADRIF, built the case for Risk Pooling for RI in Southeast Asia.

The sessions concluded with the launch of knowledge products: Financial Protection of Public Assets E-learning Program and the Practitioner's Guide.
